Automating the ANZCA Practice Evaluation: A Guide for Anaesthetists

For many anaesthetists in private practice, the Patient Experience Surveys (PES) can be a source of annual dread.
It isn’t the clinical aspect that is the problem; it is the administration. The requirement to distribute surveys to 15 patients, chase responses, collate the data, and format it for your CPD portfolio is a time-consuming “Second Shift” task that eats into your evenings.

Zento’s Associate Operations Manager, Anaesthesia, Kelly Lacy, explains why the automated survey module is the “Lightbulb Moment” for busy anaesthetists.

What are the ANZCA Practice Evaluation requirements?

Under the ANZCA and FPM CPD program, fellows are required to complete specific Practice Evaluation activities. One of the most common pathways is the Patient Experience Survey.

Traditionally, meeting this requirement involved a manual, friction-heavy workflow:

Printing paper forms and handing them out in recovery.

Hoping the patient remembers to mail them back.

Manually typing data into a spreadsheet to anonymise it.

Generating a summary report for the college.

Or worse, paying a third-party survey company hundreds of dollars to manage the logistics for you.

The Zento Solution: Set and Forget Compliance

At Zento, we believe compliance shouldn’t cost you your personal time. That’s why we built a fully automated Patient Experience Survey module directly into the Zentobox app. We replaced the paper trail with a digital workflow that runs in the background while you do your clinical work.

How the Automated Survey Module Works

We have designed this specifically for the anaesthetic workflow.

Automatic Distribution: When you finish a case in the app, the system can automatically send a secure, unique survey link to the patient via email. You don’t have to “send” anything manually.

Anonymous & Secure: Responses are collected anonymously and aggregated securely, ensuring compliance with privacy and confidentiality requirements.

Real-Time Tracking: You can view your progress (e.g., “12/15 surveys completed”) directly in your dashboard, so you know exactly when you are compliant.

One-Click Reporting: Once you hit the target, the system generates the summary report PDF, ready for immediate upload to your CPD portfolio.

Why Anaesthetists Love It

As Kelly Lacy notes in the video above, this is often the feature that makes a doctor’s eyes light up during an app demo.

“Generated it in a minute. That’s made me very happy!”
